This is the classic American story, how a great nation was formed. It explains the greatness of so many men and women formed by the experience of the challenges of legal immigration. I imagine that weak people were not among those who chose to immigrate, as were blessed to have so many powerful personalities participate in the building of America. You have made a huge difference in our world. May you heal completely and get back to the work you love and we need to continue.

The history I remember most is through well-told stories. This is one. You were very lucky to have grown up in a loving, supportive household. I can see why human “corporate” medicine didn’t work for you.

Dr. Will... sooo sorry!!! Nasty stuff is Giardia.

May 2014... we rescued a pregnant cat and on June 10th, she brought 5 adorable kittens into our world. Turned out she had Giardia so all the kittens got it. Our wonderful holistic vet tried everything to help us. She even got out the big guns... a pricey and potent antibiotic she had to order from out of state. Even that did nothing.

Finally, i found a simple, affordable, non-toxic protocol posted online by another holistic vet. She said it wasn't hers so she couldn't and wouldn't answer any questions about it. Said it had worked in her practice so she was offering it out there. And it did!!

Eternal gratitude. Still have momma kitty and all five kittens. So far, never had that issue again... thankfully.

If you'd like, i can find it and post it here... or email it. (i'm on your mailing list)

I'd love to know of it, Suz-an, post in a comment and others might benefit. Here in India, it's all too prominent, what with toilet paper being largely the left hand and a bottle of water. Yeah. But it's all over the world, probably the most common parasite most would encounter. Thanks.

Oh my, Dr. Will. Hope you can get what you need in India. Thought you were in Austin. This stopped it cold. We used Prozyme tho she names other enzymes you can use. Did it exactly as written. It worked when nothing else did. Hope it helps.

Let us know how you do. I think there may be other options like one using grapefruit seed extract, tho i can't find it right now.

AmberNaturalz also has a potent herbal tincture called Paxaid that might help. https://www.ambernaturalz.com/index.php/product/paxaid-digestive-rescue/ I have lots of experience using it along with their VibactraPlus to save parvo puppies when conventional vet treatments don't work.

We didn't think of it (feline version is Kitty DT) at the time of the Giardia, so don't know that it would work. Reliable sources have told me it does. Not sure you could get Amber products shipped to India.

Enzymes I can find easily. If the drugs fail me (on 2nd round, when none of my homeopathic remedy choices held) I'll definitely move to enzymes and my old friend I forgot about this time: raw garlic. Thanks again.

This was such a gentle treatment... maybe try it right away, even with the drugs? Wishing you the best of luck on this!

Jarrow is here for sure. Not a bad idea. Buying garlic today as well. Why not stack things, eh?

You are blessed to have so many memories of your family. I can only imagine what a real home cooked Italian meal would be like to enjoy! I love authentic cuisine and Italian would be one I would love to experience.

Thank you for sharing those memories and lots of well wishes for your recovered health.

Thank you for this beautiful story about your family. So glad you shared it. I believe growing up surrounded by working class men, who made taking good care of their families a priority, instilled in us solid work ethics. Although I lost my father when he was only 43 years old, I have many good memories of Dad in his work or hunting clothes. He was never one to shirk duty and my brother followed in his footsteps.

May you feel much better soon, Dr. Falconer. As I always say, we need your guidance on the healing path.

I think that's true about good work ethics. It was the norm in the 50's and 60's, so many working hard to fulfill their dream of the good life. And I'm on the mend, it appears, finally.

It was very much a shift in my microbiome that let the buggers get a toe hold. After zero sweets (my long time nemesis and Kryptonite) I ate a whole mango on Father’s Day. Two days later, the boom lowered. Lesson learned (yet again).

I listen to Relevant Radio, a Catholic radio station, and they play stories of the lives of various saints during their programming. Today they were playing the story of Sister Cabrini.

This station is online, and you can find and listen to all such stories there. I previously heard a review of the movie by some of the hosts of Relevant Radio, who thought it was beautiful, but odd that in the movie, Sister Cabrini never mentioned God or Christ. (Because movies are made by Hollywood, so . . . . )

Because a woman who decided to do what she did would have to have been motivated by faith in both, one would think. And one would also think she would have mentioned God and Christ now and then.

Hope you recover from giardia ASAP; Is that one of the risks of being a vet -- or are you a camper, too?

I really appreciated the bent the movie took, as there are so many religions in the world and I tend to get turned off if that's over emphasized. For me, it was enough to know she was a strong, deeply dedicated soul, helping the unfortunate against great odds (including her own health challenges).

Giardia is a great risk in India where I call home. Toilet habits are poor, and food prep with unclean hands is the unfortunate route of transmission. Never got it in US, forty years in vet practice. And a fair amount of camping, with much respect for stream water.
