A flea shot??? Just when you think it can’t get any more ridiculous. They know the believers are out there, which is just so sad. Although, I am enjoying seeing Bobby Jr.’s and our combined efforts over all these years finally making a real difference, we just can’t stop educating. Thank you for being one of the loud voices, Dr. Falconer!
The topic of fleas is so relevant for me right now, as for the last year we’ve been battling frequent issues, including a full-blown infestation. We feed fresh raw, give garlic and acv, but we keep having issues. My one pup from a breeder, who received two doses of DHPP and that’s all (still too much), is the biggest sufferer, now with FAD.
What does everyone use that works? The fleas just don’t seem to respond to homeopathics, either. (Psorinum, sulphur, and in the height of the infestation, Pulex irritans…) I haven’t tried nematodes in the yard, but would love to know more.
Thanks, Dr. Falconer. We just learned the hard way that Cedarcide makes our dogs ill - both ended up with diarrhea, vomiting, and anal gland infections (odd, but since both of them got them, with no prior issues with anal glands, it’s the only thing that makes sense). Neither one of them can stand Wondercide. We tried everything else on your list, including the Nygard. Our vet told us that Los Angeles has had very bad flea issues over the past couple of years, guess we just need to get back to Tennessee and do nematodes there.
Thank you for your years of guidance and support as I tried to care for my darling Lucy the natural way. Lucy is a 14-year old chihuahua, and sadly today she will be euthanized to relieve her of the brain/neurological cancer she has been battling for over a year. Although her true spirit/personality has been gone for many months as she slipped further into dementia, it is still difficult to see her leave our family. But I truly believe the great health and spunk she showed before the cancer can be attributed to the natural methods of care we used - raw food, minimal vaccines, herbal supplements, etc.
I'm guessing the classic one is the "funny walk" cats. But there are others - cats who leap for acounter and crash (natural cats don't do that).
My own cat, has hip dysplasia and "neurodivergence." Or, brain damage, we sometimes call it. He has a one track mind, and no boundaries - and it drives us - and his sister - spare sometimes. It's a shame, because he's a sweet, beautiful, loving animal. But I can't help but to wonder what would he be like if he hadn't been damaged?
But not even he 'misses' when he jumps. So the ones in the videos - have less advantage than even my damaged boy.
Absolutely Loved the roller skating video!! Watched it 3 times & cried at each one. What I saw was a fierce desire to succeed. so much so, the girl got in her own way at the start and stumbled. Her determination when getting back up and re-starting her race was evident but she really didn't "get it" until I saw her focus change (going into lap 2) where she started concentrating on her rhythm & technique (and not on the race itself) and got more powerful. After that, it just got better and better.
This has so many analogies to ourselves in this holistic journey with our animals. That fierce desire to "win". Stumbling (& even failing/falling sometimes) but still determined. And then the realization that focusing on each individual step and getting it right makes us stronger and stronger. Until we become unstoppable.
This is an emotional video on so many levels. Thanks for sharing, Will !
I’m getting an 8 week old Golden Retriever pup on October 1st. What classes should I take immediately to learn about vaccinations and keeping him healthy???
Love reading all your articles, just wish they were'nt so neccessary
I so hear you! What a wild world we find ourselves in, right?

I've got a page on fleas that focuses on their reproduction, off the pet. Safe ways there to control them: http://vitalanimal.com/non-toxic-flea-control/
It's going take some time and effort, but this works.

The dog in the instagram video was useless because of neurological damage from Bravecta, I'm sure.
Or annual vaccines, which the owner seemed to think were the way to go… but yeah: couldn’t catch an easy ball tossed his way? Dude, you’re dog! C’mon!
Now that I have a neuro-injured cat - I see it everywhere.
Can't even watch funny cat videos - because neuro-injuries are NOT FUNNY.
Oh, no. What kinds of cat behaviors are you seeing that trigger that response?

I see, sounds like ADHD, seen more commonly in vaccinated dogs. We’ve long called it “brain on fire” in all species.
I see the same in humans - kids with likely neuro-injury, everywhere.

As vaccination is by far the most important decision you'll ever have to make, my Smart Vaccine Alternatives course is top of the list, and always available and affordable for that very reason. https://my.vitalanimal.com/p/smart-vaccine-alternatives-short-course
